The aim of strength training, such as exercises performed on either a bench with barbells and dumbbells, on a multi-station, or body gym is to build, shape and tone muscle groups. Strength training helps to maintain our muscular strength, keep our bones strong as we age, and help us to improve the shape of our bodies, and posture. Those aiming to lose weight will benefit also, as lean muscle mass burns more calories than fat, even at rest - a strong body will find it easier to keep weight off. Strength training is suitable for everyone, from teenagers to the elderly..there are gains to be had for us all. Everybody needs some type of strength training.
